“Elina defeated Daniel in two sets in a match of 1/8 Finals of the Tensnik in the capital of Italy”, – WRITE: Sport.ua
– Share your impressions of the game with Collins, you were very successful at the reception of its second feed. Tell us how you were playing these long draws with her?
– Obviously, it was a difficult match, it is not easy to play with it, it is able to punch perfectly. And in her previous match, she won Iga. So I tried to press on her, be 100% physically and mentally. In the first set, the struggle was on an equal footing, I am very glad that I was able to submit to the party at the account of 5: 4.
And then I started playing very well, really punching the ball. I answered well at the reception. Here the conditions are very different from Madrid, the balls are heavy and you need to adapt, change the position on the court and a plan for the game. I am glad and I am not glad that I had such a difficult previous match against Haley Baptist, there were long draws, and I felt that I needed to improve the next game. I am happy to have won two sets today. It was a good performance on my part. So, sometimes it is good to have heavy matches (smiles).
– You said that there are other conditions here. How did you adapt to them is something psychological or there are technical moments, for example, changed the string tension, relieved it a little?
– Yes, indeed, I reduced the tension, because here I still need to work with the ball. In Madrid you touch the ball – and he is already flying (laughs). But in Rome it is necessary to make a little more effort, to work more, to be in the right position. And also with a border, you do not know if the ball will spin in your side or in the other. Therefore, it is necessary to adapt to everything literally until the last moment.
– In Rome, you won the title twice. Obviously, you have positive emotions with this tournament.
– Of course, I love Rome. Not only because of the pleasant memories of my victories, but simply through people, they bring a lot of energy. Even when they are not getting sick for you, it lights up in you (laughs). Everything here is very pleasant: food, atmosphere and so many people. It’s like a Grand Slam tournament. Monday? It doesn’t matter, there will still be many fans and they create an incredible atmosphere.
– Mother’s Day. Tell us how you celebrated it?
– Ok. You know, in different countries, this holiday can be on different days. So Gael told me, saying why you celebrate, in France, Mother’s Day will be two weeks, I will make you a gift later (laughs). But we should celebrate it daily (laughs). All of us, moms, do such a hard work. But now Gael is home with my daughter, and I am a mom who works.
– You had a busy month, you played in the semifinals in Madrid. Do you feel that the forces are still left?
– Yes, there is still a fire, there is a lot of work ahead. I will have a difficult next round. So I need to get together quickly. But I’m ready for this, ready for test. Peyton is doing well and this week has overcome strong rivals. I always know that you need to have this fighting mood on the court. So I’m looking forward to. I love this tournament, so I would like to go further.
