Struggle for great globes, the first trophy of the season and the chance for Mandzin

The seventh stage of the Biathlon World Cup will begin on March 6 in the Czech town of a new place, where the World Cup was held last year. The ski-white stadium “High Arena” is located half an hour on foot from the city center at an altitude of 625 meters above sea level. The route passes with a picturesque pine forest and has a drop of heights from 617 to 665 meters above sea level. It is here that the struggle for the big and small crystal globes of the current season will continue.

Women Porbon, Jeanon and Eberg are the main favorite in the fight for the Great Crystal Globe.

Francis Porbon won two personal medals at the World Cup: silver in sprint and gold in the persecution race. Therefore, the German, for the first time winning the status of the World Champion, went with a sublime mood from Switzerland. She fully justified her hopes, giving, except for two personal awards, two bronze medals in relay races. Thus, Francis will seek to continue successful performances in the last three stages. And, having a 92-point advantage over Lu Janmonno, Puzza will have to increase its separation to win the first big globe in his career.

Lu Zhanmon Frenchwoman, despite the not too successful world championship, on which she did not receive any gold medal in her personal races, will seek to rehabilitate. Lu with six victories at the World Cup stages was considered the main favorite of the World Cup, but she could not continue her successful performances in Lenzergide. According to the results of the Frenchwoman, she won two gold awards in relay races and only one personal award in the individual race.

Elvira Eberg’s Sweden, despite the disease before the main start of the season, conducted one of the most successful world championships in his career. Two personal medals-the silver in the pursuit race and gold in the final race of the championship-Mass start, as well as a bronze medal in the classic relay made it one of the most successful biathletes in Lenzergide. According to the results of all races, it scored the most points, significantly ahead of Janmon and a little proportion.

But shortly before the start of the announced stage, there was information that the leader of the Swedish national team Elvira Eberg was getting sick, so she would miss the competition.

It seems that she will fall out of the fight for the large crystal globe. However, Elvira has every chance of obtaining a small trophy by the results of the mass start, since the distance between it and the proportion is only one point in favor of the latter. To do this, the Swedes need not miss the further stage, which will take place in the Slovenian Poklka, because it is there that the race with a mass start is provided – in the discipline where Elvira Eberg has become the world champion this year.

There are six more athletes behind the three favorites in the overall standings. Among them are Frenchwoman Julia Simon, who won four gold medals (three relay races and one personal in the individual race) in Lenzergide, and Justin Breza-Bashe is a sprint champion, a bronze medalist in the pursuit race and a golden lard. Thanks to the success at the World Cup, special attention will be paid to these athletes. We will see if their successful performances will continue in the Czech Republic.

Celina Grothian, despite the decline in form, can also interfere with the fight for medal. Having almost 82% of the accuracy, the German, thanks to the successful work on the firing lines and skiing, can rise in the overall standings. And Finka Sui Minkkinen, who won the first Medal for Finland from 2017 at the World Championships and got to the TOP-10 Shkonka, will have the opportunity to regain 4th place in the standings. To do this, she needs to continue successful performances in the last stages. Perhaps it is in the Czech Republic that Finka will get the first personal gold in his career.

It will be interesting to watch the Norwegians. Ingrid Tandrevold, despite the ambiguous World Cup, can return to the podium. However, for this she will definitely need to shoot successfully and show a good speed of distance. Her teammates – Maren Kirkede and Ragnhild Femystenevik – have already shown their readiness to fight for high positions. They were part of the relay four, which won silver in Lenzergide. Femstynevik also performed in the Single Mikty, where she won the silver award with Johannes Bio. And Kirkede received a bronze award in the mass start.

Do not forget about other Swedes. Despite the unstable Championship for Hanna Eberg and Anna Magnusson, Ella Halarson was able to win a silver award in an individual race. Given that it is the Swedish women’s team that heads the relay ray, they should pay special attention. Only one relay remained this season – it will take place in a new place. According to its results, the fate of the first small globe will be decided. Currently, the Swedish national team has a 15-point advantage over its closest competitors-French. Therefore, a fascinating struggle between the current Olympic champions and world champions will be waiting for us.

Blue bean Two rivals on the track and the best girlfriends outside the competition – Frenchman Zhanny Rishard and Osan Myshelon – are the main competitors in the fight for blue bean.

In the final race, she finished 2nd, while Richard was left without a personal medal. Therefore, the struggle between them will be fierce to the last races. Currently, there are 31 points between the French. However, German Grotian, who is currently behind 44 points, can interfere with the struggle.

Men The confrontation of Lebrey and Byo Jr. will be Johannes’s last struggle in his legendary career. The newly minted king of biathlon entered his name in the history of winter sports in gold letters. However, in order to finish his career on a high note and win at home, he will have to try to win the sixth for himself a large crystal globe.

Sturela Lebrede took the yellow leader to the World Championship. The Norwegian, who has shown fairly stable results throughout the season, went to Switzerland as a main favorite. However, the World Cup was not too successful for him. Only in the final race did he manage to win a silver medal, and the day before the Norwegian team was able to interrupt the series of victories of the French national team in relay races. Despite not too successful performances, Legreid can challenge the youth and get his first big globe, because now he is ahead of him by 48 points. In addition, the leeroid leads to the sprint stands, and Johannes is inferior to him only with 2 (!) Points. So a fierce confrontation will expect us by the end of the season.

Getty Images/Global Images Ukraine. Sturel Legreid, endre Stramosheim and Johannes Byo In his turn, Johannes proved in Lenzergide that he is a real legend. Updating a lot of records, he was able to make a golden double in the sprint and the persecution race, won silver and gold awards in the relay races and closed the Norwegian Podium in the mass start. As a result of the Championship, Johannes has obtained his 90th Victory in Career. There is almost nothing left of the Bjorn Dalen’s eternal record. Therefore, he will have every chance of entering his name in the history of biathlon.

Behind the duo of leaders is a stubborn struggle for a place in the TOP-10 overall standings. Four French national teams are included in the list of the best biathletes. Eric Perrot takes a 3rd position. The young Frenchman held a successful championship, winning the title of World Champion in an individual race and silver in the persecution race. In addition, with Emilian Jacquen, he led the French relay four to the victory in a mixed relayon, and also received a silver grade medal in the classic male relay.

32-year-old Kanten Fion-Mayier proved that he remains the leader of the French national team. As a result of the championship, in addition to the silver in the relay, together with Julia Simon became the world champion in the Single-Mixtus and supplemented his achievements with two bronze medals in the sprint and an individual race. His team partner Fabien Claude, who is currently closing the top ten in the overall standings, was also among the silver winners in the relay. Therefore, the French remain the main favorites for the small crystal globe in the ray. They have an advantage in more than 80 points over the Norway national team, and only some force majeure can prevent them from maintaining leadership.

Tommazo Jacokel and Andrew Strhomsheim are two biathletes who clearly manifested themselves at the World Cup. The Italian won a silver medal in an individual race, and the Norwegian managed to win the gold award at the main start of the season for the first time in his career. So it will be interesting to watch their performances this week.

The Germans, despite the not too successful championship, also remain among the favorites. Their bronze medal in the relay was the result of many years of effort. Obviously, such an achievement can encourage them before future competitions.

The Swedish men’s national team did not hold the most successful championship. Team leaders – Martin Ponciluoma and Sebastian Samuelson – failed to win personal awards. Moreover, in command races, the Swedes also remained outside the pedestal. At the same time, their speed on the route is quite high, so if they are able to improve the shooting, they will be re -considered as serious contenders for awards. In addition, the Swedes will seek to rehabilitate in the 4th place in the relay this Sunday.

Blue bean New Zealander Campbell Wright, who stands for the US national team, has become a real breakthrough in this year’s championship. The young biathlete won two silver medals in sprint and persecution race. And in the mass start to the last fought Johannes Byo for a bronze medal, finishing the 4th.

Campbell Wright However, the glasses earned at the World Cup are not taken into account in the overall context of the World Cup, so Wright could not climb in the table. He is currently the owner of Blue Bib, but we should not forget about the Ukrainian Vitaliy Mandzin, who demonstrates stable results during the season and is the main competitor of Campbell. Currently, there is a difference of 61 points in favor of the American. However, everything else can change – ahead of us will be waiting for a fascinating confrontation of athletes to the last race.

Ukrainian national team The national team of Ukraine faced many problems at the World Cup: illness, injuries and unsuccessful ski choices did not give our athletes the opportunity to demonstrate the maximum and get the first medals in the season.

The best result was the 5th place of Julia Jima in an individual race. She was able to combine apt shooting and a decent speed, setting her own record at the World Championships.

Getty Images/Global Images Ukraine. Julia Jim Therefore, much attention will be drawn to Jima, as well as Christina Dmitrenko. They are the leaders of the women’s national team and, thanks to successful shooting and well -prepared skis, can compete with the strongest rivals. Perhaps it is in the new place in Julia that it will be possible to get to the pedestal of honor. Four years ago, in this Czech town, it was already finished 2 in sprint. And Christina will have every chance for the first time in her career to get to the flower ceremony, because from 90% of her aptness it is quite a strength.

The captain of the national team Dmitry Podruchny announced his plans for the last stages of the season. He plans to speak in all races as far as possible. We hope that the trauma he received in Lenzergide will not affect his results too much, and he will continue to please us at least at the flower ceremony.

In turn, Vitaliy Mandzin progressed significantly this season. The young biathlete represents a new generation of Ukrainian biathlon and already demonstrates decent results. We hope that as a result of the racing, it will not only get to the top 6, but also will make a serious wright’s struggle for the blue bean of the leader.

Getty Images/Global Images Ukraine. Dmitry Podruchny Of course, we hope for decent results from other Ukrainian athletes. After all, thanks to the quality shooting, which is usually demonstrated by our biathletes, they can take high positions.

So we look forward to the fascinating continuation of the biathlon season and the successful performances of the national team of Ukraine!
