Part will be hoping to win one of four tour cards by getting through the final stage.

He would also have a backup by gaining one of three cards that are offered through the Order of Merit system.

That way sees 16 cards given to European stars and 13 more to players from the UK.

This would boost Part’s chances of obtaining a tour card and therefore allow him into the Pro Tour tournaments.

This year sees 34 Players Championship events scheduled that Part could play in.

He could also then enter the qualifying tournaments for events such as the Grand Slam of Darts, World Series of Darts Finals and the World Championship.

The Q School has previously helped the likes of Gerwyn Price, Dave Chisnall and Danny Noppert gain tour cards since starting in 2011.

Price earned his card in 2014 before rising through the ranks and reaching world no1 and winning the World Darts Championship in 2021.

Part broke through into the darts scene in 1994 and won the BDO World Darts Championship on debut.

He was the first non-British player to do so before he ended Phil Taylor‘s eight-year run of consecutive titles.
