Are not called to the national team? It was very difficult at the beginning. This is a period when you do not play ten matches, no one explains anything, and it’s hard for you to accept it. But now I have already released this situation, accepted and understood. This stage was somewhere in the fall or winter when it was really difficult. Now I have changed priorities: I am gaining a new experience, I teach English, I get acquainted with new people, I see how clubs with another structure work.
How did you go to Westerlo? In April 2024, Sergei Serebrennikov called me and said that there was interest from Westerlo. Then I talked with the coach, saw the team. He talked to his family, his parents, thought – there was a lot of “for” and “against”. Then the CEO also called, we spoke openly. And I realized that I needed to move in this direction.
It was difficult that I did not say goodbye to many: team, partners, president. It was important for me to say goodbye to the ultras, because we had a good relationship, they maintained me. Now I have great respect for them.
When you are 10 years in a warm bath, and here you need to take a cold shower and get out of the comfort zone. The first two months in Belgium were like a fairy tale – everything was liked, English helped, communication was. But then the routine began, and you start to think: why did I do it? There were such excitements, doubts. There were times when I regret, but I worry and move it forward. ”
