In 2023, the Catalan team was fined 500 thousand euros, but this time the Spanish champion could be punished in the form of a deprivation of points in the next season of the Champions League or to reduce the number of players that can be registered for participation in the tournament.
To alleviate financial problems, Barcelona has recently raised money by selling a percentage of its revenue from broadcast rights, a share in the club’s own media companies and future VIP revenues at the Spotify Camp Nou stadium at the development stage.
Such operations are approved by La League, but they are not recognized by UEFA, who intends to punish the Catalan club. Barcelona hopes that these violations will be considered serious and expect at best a small financial fine.
