Ronnie had previously named Novak Djokovic alongside Michale Jordan as the greatest of all timeCredit: Times Newspapers Ltd The Rocket, 49, is widely hailed as snooker’s undisputed G.O.A.T., with seven world titles, countless records and that legendary fastest 147.
But just a year after saying Michael Jordan and Novak Djokovic were the two greatest athletes on the planet, Ronnie has performed a dramatic U-turn.
Back in July last year, O’Sullivan was gushing over Djokovic, telling WST: “He has to be up there with Michael Jordan as the greatest sportsperson there’s ever been.
“Every athlete looks at them and thinks, ‘What can I learn?’”
He even revealed the pair had swapped WhatsApps after Ronnie watched the Serbian ace at Wimbledon.
He added: “Obviously, watching his [Djokovic’s] career, and then meeting him and going to watch him, we’ve had a few WhatsApp messages and stuff like that. Yeah, it’s great.”
But now, the snooker icon has ripped up his old rankings and crowned Phil “The Power” Taylor as the true No1.
Answering questions on TNT Sports, Ronnie declared the darts legend the G.O.A.T of all sport, elevating the tungsten titan above Jordan, Djokovic and the rest.
