  • Price Is RightGerwyn Price hit a nine-darter against Luke Littler in the Premier League last week – but still lost.

Littler dominated proceedings in their quarter-final tie on Night 10 in Manchester.

The world champion won the match 6-3, and Price became the third player to fall foul of the nine-darter curse in this year’s competition.

Only Littler has won the same match in which he has hit a nine-darter this season.

  • ‘I changed for a reason’ – MVG desperate to break unwanted TV hoodooBullish Michael van Gerwen has told Holland fans they can put their shirt on him reaching the Premier League playoffs despite his freak jersey injury.

Two weeks ago, the Dutch thrower, 35, suffered a “stupid” moment when he hurt his shoulder while trying on darts tops for his sponsors and he joked: “I feel like an old man already.”

The painful issue saw him pull out of the Berlin Prem night and the 6-0 walkover win handed to Gerwyn Price means MVG sits fifth in the table – with only the top four men qualifying for the London O2 Arena semis on May 29.

Only once in 12 previous years has the seven-time champion failed to make at least the last four of the £1million competition.

Van Gerwen plays Stephen Bunting in front of orange-clad home punters in Rotterdam on Thursday but he says the “fire” is still there to be successful despite no TV title for 15 months.

He said: “I’m pain-free now. It’s a little bit stiff but it doesn’t affect my darts.

“I think it’s just me, having the wrong arm. I need to buy a new one!

“I still have the fire in my belly. The anger is still there when you don’t perform 100 per cent.

“When you face the past, you’ve your back against the future. You’ve to look to the future.

“I changed darts for a reason. To get my mind off things. When you aren’t 100 per cent comfortable, it’s a nice thing, but it didn’t work out the way I wanted it to.

  • Don’t get caught outWith tonight’s Premier League Darts coming live from Rotterdam, the action will begin at a slightly earlier time this evening.

The time difference means that the first match will start at 6.15pm in the UK, rather than the more regular time of 7.15pm.

  • Van Gerwen hoping to put on a show on home soilMVG currently sits outside of the Play Off positions on leg difference.

The most successful Premier League player off all-time has only made it to one nightly final so far this season.

“This is always the week where you want to perform and do well.

“Playing on home soil in front of your family and friends, you always want to produce something extra. It’s really enjoyable and it gives me more energy, which I think is really important.

“I’ve been struggling a little bit recently, but I’ve been battling and picking up points here and there, and I know there is plenty more in the tank.

“This is a difficult format, especially when you’re not performing at your best, but I need to make sure I do the right thing for myself, and hopefully I can get my first nightly win [of the season] here in Rotterdam.”
