The case concerned a payment of 2 million Swiss francs ($ 2.26 million), which Blatter sanctioned in favor of Platini in 2011.
The payment was a fee for Platini consulting services, provided from 1998 to 2002. According to the Frenchman, the payment was partially postponed because FIFA had no money for immediate payment.
The scandal that exploded in 2015, when Platini was the UEFA president, the governing body of European football, put an end to the hopes of this functionary to become a successor to Blatter, who was forced to leave FIFA through the case.
“Criminal prosecution has not only legal but also huge personal and professional consequences for Michelle Platini, although no evidence that would have exposed my client has been presented. Among other things, criminal prosecution prevented his election as President FIFA in 2016, ”Nellen said.
It should be noted that as of now, Joseph Blatter is 89 years old, Michel Platini is 69 years old. Both of them, despite the judgment of the court, are unlikely to come back to top management of world football.
