On the way from Canada to Estonia, the striker of the youth national team of Ukraine spent 31 hours on the plane
Nikita Ivashchenko during the flight to the 2025 World Cup A talented 19-year-old striker of the youth national team of Ukraine U20 Nikita Ivashchenko arrived in Tallinn last night, where our youth team is preparing for the 2025 World Cup in Division 1B. The native of Kharkiv went to Estonia in high spirits, having played in two regular season games in the 2025 Canadian Junior League SJHL (Saskatchewan) before the transatlantic trip and had a puck in both, establishing himself as the top scorer“Battlefords Nord Stars” – 34 (14+20) points in 32 games. “The coaches and partners of the club gave me a very warm welcome, said that it was very cool to represent the country at such a forum and wished me to bring gold awards from the tournament! I hope everything will work out for us. On this occasion, I took three sticks with me to the World Championship, including the one with which I started scoring in 2025, – says Nikita Ivashchenko. “It is disappointing that during a tiring trip with three layovers and a 31-hour flight on the route: Saskatoon – Toronto – Frankfurt am Main – Tallinn, he arrived at the final destination with a bad feeling and a temperature of 38.2.”
As a reminder, the World Youth Hockey Championship in Division 1B will be held in Tallinn (January 11-17). The opponents of the Ukrainian U20 national team for the only ticket to group 1A will be the teams of Estonia (January 11), Poland (12), Italy (14), South Korea (16) and Japan (17).
