Named the best goalkeeper save in the history of football. Buffon is the 6th. Who is the leader?

An authoritative British portal GiveMeSport updated the rating of the best saves in football history.

The first step of the rating was taken by the save of the England goalkeeper Gordon Banks in the group stage of the 1970 World Cup. Banks deflected a header from the legendary Pele, and this save was dubbed “the save of the century” by many publications.

The second position of the rating belongs to the Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who saved the Argentine national team from defeat in the last seconds of the World Cup 2022 final by deflecting Randal Kolo Muani’s shot.

The bronze rating went to Jim Montgomery and his save in the 1973 FA Cup final against Leeds.

The saves of the legendary goalkeepers Gianluigi Buffon and Iker Casillas also made it into the top ten rating.

The ranking of the most successful players in history was published earlier.
