Head coach of Dynamo Kyiv Ihor Kostyuk held a press conference after the victory over Noah (2:0) in the sixth round of the Conference League 2025/26:

– There was an unpleasant moment at the beginning of the match Oleksandr Tymchyk left the field due to an injury. Is there an understanding of the severity of the injury?

– We cannot yet carry out diagnostics in such a short period of time. We will find out what happened.

But I already said that we have decent players on the bench, and Oleksandr Karavaev, coming on as a substitute, played in this position as he knows how, fulfilled all the instructions we gave. We achieved the result despite the injury in the first minutes.

– After the episode when Karavaev did not realize his moment, you threw your hat on the lawn. What emotions did you have at that moment?

– Our players work and create moments, and of course I want them to realize every moment. These are emotions, and I always tell the players that it is impossible to play football without emotions. I’m just as emotional and I want the players to be emotional and give and enjoy what they’re doing and realize those moments.

– When will the team come out of vacation and where and when will the winter meetings be held?

– Starting today, the players are going on vacation. Tasks will be provided that must be completed before leaving for vacation. On January 12, we are meeting, there will be a medical examination. We will work in Kyiv for two days, and we will fly to Turkey for a meeting on January 15.

– It seemed that “Dynamo” was completely outrunning the opponents, and such intense football is what you want to see in the team. Which “Dynamo” is ideal for you?

– This is not yet the football we are aiming for, but I am glad that the players are listening and they are talking about it among themselves and saying that this football really brings results. These are not my words – they say that the game is forgotten, but the result remains. Today we had to go on vacation in a good mood, to have a good rest and prepare emotionally for the continuation of the season.

– There were matches in which it seemed that “Dynamo” did not have enough strength to run to the end. Today, on the contrary, the team was fully focused for the entire 90 minutes. How did you manage to achieve such a result in such a short time?

– Thanks to the players. We have slightly changed the training process. And we also have decent players on the bench who give that intensity for 90 minutes.

– Matvii Ponomarenko was often dropped in the first half, but came out in the second and immediately scored a goal. What did you say to him during the break?

– And when exactly did Matvii “fall out” in the first half?

– There were many individual mistakes…

– There was no synchronization of the players, that’s why he lost, but he spent the first half well enough, did a lot of work in defense, pulled out the opposing team’s defense players. Therefore, I will not say that he played badly in the first half.

– Will you be looking for team reinforcements abroad or in Ukraine during the winter break? Are you satisfied with the composition that you have at your disposal?

– Of course, this process never ends. We are always actively looking to strengthen the squad we have, to have competition, to have equal players in all positions. Of course, this moment adds to the players we have, the desire for progress, training, improvement, the desire to play in the starting lineup.
