A 25-year-old karateist went to Europe for international competitions, but never returned to Ukraine.
“I understand that I did the wrong thing, my act has no excuse, it is not worthy of the Ukrainian community, our soldiers,” he said in a video.
And he explained his act by the fact that in 2023, with his 18-year-old wife Darina, they became parents. And in order to provide the family, he tried to get a deferral from mobilization by joining postgraduate studies. The material states that in this matter, he was even promised to help his coach, President of the Chernivtsi Karate Federation Alexander Pikulin. This “service” cost him $ 4,000.
However, Pykulin Pylypyuk could not help, so the young athlete offered the post of coach at the Youth Sports School. The sports school did not book a booking for its employees, so a 25-year-old karatist went abroad on a legitimate basis, on the pretext of competitions.
According to Pylypyuk, his wife did not know about his intention to “go and stay abroad.”
“My wife has not violated any legislation. She is not a military manner or a physician. She did not sign any documents on return to Ukraine after the competition was completed,” he said. However, the Karate Federation of Ukraine has already excluded both the boy and the girl from the national team. They are now threatened with lifelong disqualification from the World Karate Federation.
What else is known about Ukrainian athletesEarlier, UNIAN reported that the Ukrainian gymnast, a silver medalist of the Olympic Games in 2024, Ilya Kovtun submitted documents for Croatia’s citizenship.
In addition, Elina Svitolini was also offered to perform under a different flag, offering half a million dollars. However, she did not even look at this option – she “never had a question whether to change the country.”
