Jake Paul is excluded from the WBA ranking – the official reason is given

A famous boxer and blogger Jake Paul left the official ranking of the World Boxing Association (WBA) in the first heavyweight (up to 90.7 kg). This happened after he suffered a knockout loss to Anthony Joshua in December, reports BoxingScene.

These changes are recorded in the updated lists of the organization from January 1. Paul, whose record now stands at 12 wins and 2 losses, will make his WBA Top 15 debut in June 2025. Then he took the 14th position, defeating Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., and by November he had moved to the 15th step.

Jake’s presence in the ratings previously provoked heated discussions in the sports environment. A number of analysts expressed displeasure, believing that the American’s opposition does not correspond to the level of the contender, and the WBA is only trying to capitalize on his media, simplifying the way to a championship fight.

“At the moment it doesn’t play a role. Paul is excluded from the list,” the publication emphasizes. Experts believe that this is unlikely to upset the 28-year-old athlete, since his career is focused on organizing large-scale shows, and not on classic promotion through the ranking ladder.

In January 2026, the WBA and WBO titles in this division are held by Hilberto “Surdo” Ramirez. The top spot on the WBA list remains vacant, and Croatia’s Edin Pujalo (27-3, 26 KOs) has moved to the 15th position previously held by Paul.
