“It won’t change anything.” F1 commentators harshly criticized McLaren

Lando Norris will face internal “consequences” at the McLaren team for the rest of the Formula 1 season after making contact with teammate Oscar Piastre on the opening lap of the Singapore Grand Prix. The British rider admitted his responsibility for the incident and noted that it is fair to bear responsibility for his actions.

Norris confirmed that there would be consequences, but he and Piastre did not elaborate on what they would be. The incident comes amid a tense battle in the individual standings, with six races and three sprints remaining in the season and just 22 points separating Norris from Piastre. McLaren has already secured the team title after the Singapore Grand Prix.

Sky Sports F1 commentators have expressed doubts about the effectiveness of such measures. David Croft noted:

“What could be the consequences? Strategy? Will Oscar get priority strategy? Is this the only answer? The fine will not change anything.”

Karun Chandok:

“Honestly, I don’t understand it at all. Why say something like that if you’re not going to tell all the details? You just turned a relatively calm Thursday into a real blast. But I don’t think it’s going to have any sporting consequences that would really stop Lando from earning points.”

Lando NORRIS: 'I'm really going to have consequences for the rest of the season for what I did'
