The 24-year-old forward was only introduced off the bench in the 75th minute.

But barely ten minutes later, he suffered what appeared to be a painful injury to his leg while dribbling.

The distraught player received treatment on the pitch, before being stretchered off in tears.

Broja has a history of knee injuries, including an ACL tear that saw him sidelined for the majority of 2023 while on the books at Chelsea.

This newest blow clearly had a profound effect on him, and his reaction and injury history have left some fans wondering if this is the end for his career in the Prem.

The match had just minutes left when the injury occurred One fan said on X: “Broja had so much potential but I think it’s the end for him. So so sad.”

Another added: “Every time Broja goes down injured I think I even feel pain at this point. The guy is so unlucky.”

Play got back underway for the last few minutes of the fixture, with England seeing out a 2-0 win to top their group with a flawless record, and becoming the first to do so without conceding a goal.

It was not the first show of emotion from the star in the qualifiers, having sparked concern from fans after being spotted breaking down in tears after Albania’s win over Andorra on Thursday.

He caught the attention of Premier League fans when he had a successful loan spell with Southampton in the 2021/22 season.

Broja was hailed for his quick feet despite his size, standing at 6ft 3in tall.

But an ACL injury would stunt his progress upon his return to Chelsea, before two fruitless loans to Fulham and Everton cooled the hype surrounding the prospect.

He has missed over 30 games through injury since the start of last season alone.

Broja left Chelsea permanently in August to join newly-promoted Burnley, but is yet to score in his five Prem appearances off the bench this season.
