Ukrainian super heavyweight Oleksandr Usyk lost the status of absolute champion of the world in super-heavyweight after voluntarily giving up the WBO title. The new champion of the organization was the British boxer Fabio Wordley, who was a mandatory contender for the belt.

TalkSPORT British boxing columnist Simon Jordan explained that the main reason for Oleksandr Usyk’s decision was the mandatory fight with Fabio Wordley. Jordan notes that Usyk did not want to be dictated by the terms of who and when he should fight. In addition, the Ukrainian was not satisfied with the financial component of the fight – Oleksandr understood that the fight with Wardly would not bring him a significant fee.

Previously, the WBC, WBA and IBF heavyweight title holder (over 90.7 kg) Oleksandr Usyk (24–0, 15 KOs) talked about his plans and admitted when he intends to end his professional career.
