The Algerian won gold at the Olympics in ParisCredit: APKhelif has appealed that decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport [CAS], also requesting she is made eligible to participate in the 2025 World Boxing Championships.
CAS have already rejected an appeal to suspend World Boxing’s ban until the case is heard.
That means Khelif will be unable to feature at the World Boxing Championships, which takes place from September 4 to 15.
The Paris gold medalist missed the Boxing World Cup this year and has not competed since the summer games.
The ban was issued after a leaked medical report claimed Khelif is a “biological male”.
Khelif had failed an unspecified gender test administered by the Russian-led International Boxing Association in 2023.
The IOC – which replaced the Russia-led IBA as the Olympic’s boxing governing body – were warned about the tests and urged to remove Khelif from the Olympics.
Khelif was allowed to box in Paris because of her female passport status.
Khelif initially refused to respond directly to the claims in a social media post on Monday, instead focusing on her work as a Unicef ambassador – a role she has held since January 2024.
The post featured a photo of Khelif wearing a blue polo bearing the organisation’s logo as she made a heart symbol with her hands to celebrate the “Global Day of Parents”.
