As many as 3.4 million ferry passengers transit through Southampton each year.
While most British holidaymakers pass through the maritime city without stopping, there are plenty of attractions to keep families entertained.
One of those is Flip Out – a huge indoor trampoline and adventure park.
The indoor adventure park features drop slides, an inflatable obstacle course, a soft play area and a stunt zone.
There’s also Go Ape Southampton, which is located in Itchen Valley Country Park near Southampton Airport.
Other family-friendly attractions include the SeaCity Museum and Solent Sky Museum, which showcases the history of aviation in the city.
Meanwhile, Southampton Airport will make a huge change to its security checks, with new security scanners set to be installed.
At the end of last year, TUI relaunched flights from Southampton Airport for the first time in 15 years.
Belton House offers free admission for children under five, is home to what is officially the National Trust’s largest outdoor kids’ adventure playground.
Open daily, it features incredible wooden constructions set in an ancient wilderness, within which little ones can explore by swinging, climbing and jumping their way through obstacles.
There are rope bridges, long slides and swings among the many playtime options, which cater to a range of ages and abilities.
One of playground highlights is the opportunity to ride in a miniature train, which usually operates Friday to Sunday or every day during Lincolnshire school holidays.
Tickets cost £2 for adults and £1.50 for children, all proceeds of which are channelled back into keeping the teeny rail service running.
Meanwhile, Butlin’s will open a new £1.8million soft play at its Bognor Regis site later this year.
We also found a indoor and outdoor play centre with splash zones and zip lines.
