The legendary gymnast Agnesa Keleti was 103 years old.
The world sports legend is said to have passed away on Thursday morning in Budapest after being hospitalized with pneumonia over Christmas.
As part of the Hungarian team, Keleti won 10 Olympic medals in gymnastics, including five gold.
Keleti was Jewish by nationality. She started gymnastics at the age of 4, and at the age of 16 she won her first national title. She survived the Holocaust, pretending to be a Christian and, hiding in the village under forged documents, in 1944 married the gymnast Istvan Sharkan.
After the XVI Olympic Games in Melbourne (November-December 1956), Keleti, taking advantage of the opportunity, received political asylum in connection with the introduction of Soviet troops into Hungary and decided to stay and live in Australia.
In 1957, Keleti repatriated to Israel, where her mother and sister also moved from Hungary. In Israel, she worked as a physical education instructor at Tel Aviv University.
