“The Brit assures that these rumors do not make sense, because the team has a clear agreement with Wasser”, — write: sport.ua
The former Red Bull boss stepped down after the British Grand Prix, ending a 20-year spell at the helm of the Milton Keynes-based team. After his release, Horner can return to Formula 1 as early as next spring.
The 51-year-old Briton has been linked with several teams. Aston Martin and Haas confirmed that he applied for preliminary negotiations, but the matter did not progress further. Ferrari has also been mentioned as a potential option, despite the fact that current Scuderia boss Frédéric Wasser signed a new deal at the start of the year.
Hamilton criticized these rumours, stressing that they only hurt the team’s concentration:
“I don’t know where these rumors came from, so I can’t say much. But it’s a bit of a distraction for us as a team. We have a clear understanding regarding the extension of Fred’s contract,” said the Briton.
“Fred, myself and the whole team are working hard on the future. Such things naturally do not help. I know everyone at Maranello is working incredibly hard and focused, but this kind of talk can be distracting.”
