“The Briton shared his impressions of the first day of the Scuderia’s tests”, — write: sport.ua
The Italian team took to the track for the first time during the shakedown on the second day of tests. Charles Leclerc took the wheel in the morning, and Hamilton continued the work in the afternoon.
However, the Briton was unlucky with the weather – his entire race took place under the rain that flooded the track in Barcelona. Despite this, Ferrari was able to overcome a solid distance, and Hamilton himself assessed the day as useful.
“The day was very difficult. The rain started at about 10:30, so Charles still had time to work on a dry track,” said Hamilton.
“The entire afternoon race was on wet surfaces, but the work with the tire set-up turned out to be extremely productive.
We drove around 120 laps – considering the rainy conditions and the red flag, this is a very decent result.
I’m really proud of everyone at the base of the team who have brought the car to this state.
Today we have collected a lot of important information. There is still a lot of work to do, but for the first day everything went well.”
Radical changes to the regulations in the 2026 season give Ferrari a chance to return to the fight for leadership positions after the failed championship in 2025.
With no major issues on day one, Hamilton hopes consistency will continue to be the team’s hallmark.
“It could have been much worse. This is normal for such a large-scale update of the rules,” he added.
“No serious difficulties have arisen – we are just gradually improving small details. This is encouraging, now we need to spend a few more productive days.”
