The current take-home prize is a replica of the tournament’s trophyCredit: Rex But Welsh thrower Price has suggested that, instead of the replica, Worlds winners receive a ring to commemorate their achievement.
He took to social media to float the idea to fans, after being inspired by the £30,000 golden darts that players receive for hitting a nine-darter in the Premier League.
He captioned a post on his Instagram account: “Golden darts for a 9 darter in the Premier League. How about a World Championship winner Ring?”
The suggestion mirrors the system of many American sports leagues, with members of NFL and NBA championship-winning teams receiving a ring on top of the team’s trophy.
Price did have one interesting shake-up for the idea, suggesting a hierarchy of rings – one for the winner and another for the runner-up.
He added: “Gold/diamond for the winner and Silver/diamond for runner up.”
Price even added his own mock-up of the ring, hilariously plastering a PDC logo on top of what appears to be a Patrick Mahomes Super Bowl ring.
Fans flocked to the comments to give their own take on the suggestion, with others chiming in with other ideas to recognise the winner of the sport’s biggest tournament.

One fan said: “Think that’s a good shout, or even a poker chip to all that make the Worlds as a memento for making the championship.”
Another had another suggestion to put forward: “Belt like the boxers have. Imagine Gerwyn walking round with the title. Slamming it over people’s heads. Give the people what they want.”
Though a third fan sarcastically quipped about the eye-watering sum of money on offer for the winner of the upcoming edition of the tournament.
They joked: “Is the million quid not enough??”
The PDC don’t have long in case they fancied taking Price up on his idea, as the Worlds are now just around the corner.
Only this weekend’s Players Championship Finals are left before the big one gets underway at Ally Pally in December.
