Four Ukrainian swimmers won medals on the first day of the Paralympics

Ukrainian athletes won four medals on the first competitive day of the 2024 Paralympics, which is taking place in Paris. All awards were won by swimmers.

Anton Kohl won “silver” in the 100-meter backstroke in class S1. Iryna Poyda became the silver medalist in the 200-meter freestyle (class S5). Anna Gontar became a bronze medalist in the 50-meter freestyle in the S6 class. Oleksandr Komarov won a bronze medal in the 200-meter freestyle (class S5).

The XVII Summer Paralympic Games are the eighth Summer Games with the participation of Ukrainian Paralympic athletes. During the years of independence, Ukrainians took part in seven summer and seven winter Paralympic Games and won a total of 613 medals.
