“Leclerc believes that the fault for the accident at the restart lies not only with Piastre”, — write: sport.ua
On the restart after the safety car at the start of the race, Piastri attacked in the first corner. The Australian found himself pinned down from the inside lane while Kimi Antonelli and Leclerc rode the outside.
The contact between Piastre and Antonelli led to the fact that the Italian flew into the Ferrari car and the Monegasque had to get off.
Formula 1 stewards found Piastri guilty of the collision and assigned a 10-second penalty and 2 penalty points to the super license.
However, Leclerc is convinced that the fault lies not only with Piastre.
“Oscar was being optimistic, but Kimi knew it, too,” Leclair said.
He understood that Oscar was on the inside trajectory, but he passed the turn as if it was not there. Oscar is not the only one to blame. Yes, the maneuver was optimistic, but it could have been avoided.”
Ferrari’s day became even more painful after the departure of Lewis Hamilton. This allowed Mercedes and Red Bull to overtake the Scuderia in the Constructors’ Cup. Despite this result, Leclerc emphasized that he is not angry with Piastre or Antonella:
“I am disappointed. But at the end of the day, I’m not mad at Oscar or Kimi – it happens. However, I will not say that it is entirely Oscar’s fault. I don’t think everything is so clear-cut.”
