The celebrity became a citizen of Ukraine five years ago, but he was able to get rid of the Russian document much later.
Kiryushchenko is originally from Ukraine, but for many years he lived, worked and was even a citizen of the Russian Federation, which is why he was considered a Russian director. In an interview for OBOZ.UA, he said that he received a Ukrainian passport five years ago. However, rumors that Oleksii Adolfovich lives in Russia are still spreading:
Am I in Russia? I have had Ukrainian citizenship for five years, although for some reason they keep writing that I only have a residence permit. Knowing perfectly well that it isn’t.
According to the screenwriter, he has been living in Ukraine since 2012. First, he received a residence permit, and then became a citizen. Almost all of his relatives live or are buried here, and his son serves in the ranks of the GUR.
Kiryushchenko submitted his application to renounce his Russian passport a few days before the start of the full-scale invasion. At that time, many of the director’s acquaintances did not believe that he would be able to get rid of the Russian document, but he succeeded. In less than a week, the artist officially ceased to be a citizen of the aggressor country.
“The day before, I submitted an application to renounce my Russian citizenship. Everyone told me: they won’t let me go, because that’s what usually happens. But five days later, I got a call from the Russian embassy, they said, submit the documents,” the celebrity recalled.
We will remind, earlier Ivanna Onufriychuk revealed the citizenship of her 6-month-old son, who was born in Switzerland. The TV presenter shared a new shot with a boy holding his passport.
