Correspondent’s call Sport.ua found Vernydub in the process of work in Baku. However, he willingly answered a few questions about the New Year’s theme.
– Until what age did you believe in Santa Claus?
– (Laughs). Whoa whoa I won’t remember anymore. Although I understood that he was not there, I still believed. He wrote postcards for a long time, and Santa Claus fulfilled their wishes. Did they often come true? Constantly.
– What do you expect from the new year, 2026, as a citizen of Ukraine and as a football coach?
– I want everything to be “positive”. As for expectations, as a citizen of Ukraine, I would really like only one thing: peace, goodness and mutual understanding. So that all the troubles connected with the war will end. The most important thing now for each of us is to strive for peace and believe in our victory.
I wish all citizens of Ukraine to love and appreciate their country. No matter what she was like and no matter what they say about her, this is our Motherland. For us, it should be one and indivisible.
As for football, I would like the Ukrainian national team to make it to the finals of the 2026 World Cup, and our clubs to perform successfully in the European arena. Despite the difficulties, Ukrainian football is alive. I am sure he will be revived and, as before, will declare himself on the international stage.
