Ukrainian tennis player Diana Yastremska (WTA 27) had a successful start at the hard WTA 500 tournament in Brisbane, Australia.
In the first round, the Ukrainian lost in two tie-breaks Talia Gibson (Australia, WTA 118) in 1 hour and 58 minutes.

Yastremska held her first face-to-face confrontation against Gibson.
Diana played the first match of the 2026 season. Her next opponent will be 13th seed Leila Fernandez (Canada, WTA 22).
In addition to Yastremska, Ukraine will also be represented by Marta Kostyuk in the Brisbane singles. Kostyuk will fight Yulia Putintseva in the second round.
