Colombian regulator Coljuegos has announced new tax rules for online gambling operators. Now they are obliged to pay VAT on gaming bonuses if their amount is less than 1.6% of the gross income of the company for the month.
Bonuses that exceed the average amount of license payments for the last 12 months are exempt from tax. For new operators, there is a temporarily reduced threshold during the first year of operation.
According to Coljuegos, the measure is aimed at preventing abuse of bonuses and stabilizing the tax burden. Violators face financial sanctions.
