The Blues are winless in five Premier League matches and find themselves outside the top four ahead of kick-off and are facing an injury crisis.
But star man Cole Palmer is STARTING despite picking up an ankle knock against Bournemouth last time out.
New Wolves boss Vitor Pereira had an enjoyable honeymoon period after Wanderers picked up seven points from his opening three points, but form has slumped in recent weeks following back-to-back 3-0 defeats in the Premier League.

- Chelsea 1-0 Wolves39. Caicedo is back to his feet and made a miraculous recovery.
He would fit in well in a Mikel Arteta side.
Cunha tries to get a strike away from the edge of the box but it is well-blocked by the Chelsea defence.
- Chelsea 1-0 Wolves37. The game is stopped so Caicedo can receive treatment.
He slid into a tackle and won the ball cleanly but the Wolves’ player fell onto his knee.
Cue The Blues’ midfielder rolling around like he has snapped his ACL.
It backfires if there is nothing wrong with him as Palmer was about to burst forward on an attack and put the ball into touch.
- Chelsea 1-0 Wolves35. Wolves do not seem keen to cross the ball into the box.
Chelsea should dominate the aerial battles this evening.
Ait-Nouri looks to get forward but he is adjudged to be offside.
- Chelsea 1-0 Wolves33. Gary Barlow has been spotted in the crowd this evening.
Fortunately for the twenty rows behind him, his son has not joined him tonight.
Chelsea will be looking to protect their lead until the interval now.
- Chelsea 1-0 Wolves31. Cunha goes in heavy on a challenge on James.
Chelsea fans will be relieved to see he has not strained a ligament or hamstring in the physical exchange.
Or ‘Mr Glass’ as he is better known in West London now.

- View from SunSport’s Andy Dillon at Stamford BridgeChelsea are ahead through Tosin’s goal that needed a VAR check to overrule the initial offside call.
But it’s hardly convincing from The Blues against one of the worst sides in the division. And it’s pretty dreary too.
Trevoh Chalobah has livened things up with a few tackles on his return from loan but the most interesting aspect of all is that Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is a Sister Sledge fan – he chose the music on the PA and big screen before the game.
- Chelsea 1-0 Wolves29. The visitors force their first corner of the game.
We have the referee getting involved as he is not happy with all the pushing and shoving in the box.
The corner is dreadful from Cunha and goes straight into the side netting.
- Chelsea 1-0 Wolves27. It is the perfect start for the hosts.
As James’ wayward shot was controlled by Tosin before slotting it past Jose Sa.
It was immediately ruled out due to the assistant’s flag but VAR deems the player to have been onside and the goal is given.
- Goal – Tosin (Chelsea)
- Chelsea 0-0 Wolves23. A hopeful ball forward almost leads to the opening goal.
Jose Sa comes charging out of his goal to collect but Doherty heads it over him.
The defender makes amends by putting it behind for a corner.
From the resulting set-piece, Tosin scores but it is ruled out for offside.
- Chelsea 0-0 Wolves21. Wolves come forward once again.
Cunha sees some of the ball for the first time this evening.
He tries a shot from distance but it goes well wide.
- Chelsea 0-0 Wolves19. We have a little break in play as Jose Sa receives treatment.
You wonder whether these instances are just a ploy for the manager to get instructions over to his team.
Miraculously, the keeper is able to continue.

- Chelsea 0-0 Wolves17. Palmer showed just how dangerous it can be to let him have the ball and space in front of him.
He tries to thread a pass to Jackson but it is cut out.
The ball comes back to Palmer, who dribbles it towards goal before letting fly with a shot.
Jose Sa gets down well to make the save as Wolves clear their lines.
- Chelsea 0-0 Wolves15. There are a few players tonight looking to make an impact.
For Chelsea, Chalobah and Dewsbury-Hall fall into this category.
Wolves new signing Agbadou will have a tough evening in that back three since his signing from the French first division.
- Chelsea 0-0 Wolves13. Wolves are struggling to deal with Neto.
Which is surprising as most of this team trained with him for years.
Palmer receives the ball inside the penalty area and tries a cheeky clipped effort but it drops wide of the far post.
- Chelsea 0-0 Wolves11. Whenever The Blues have possession in their opponents’ half, Wolves have got all eleven players behind the ball.
They do not need a focal point up top as they have pace to utilise.
Jose Sa cannot collect a cross and it drops dangerously in the box but eventually the visitors clear.
- Chelsea 0-0 Wolves9. Madueke swings a curling ball into the box.
Cucurella is the most advanced Chelsea player attacking it but Wolves clear their lines.
Jose Sa comes to collect another cross to frustrate the hosts.

- Chelsea 0-0 Wolves 7. The Blues are seeing a lot of possession so far.
Wolves will have planned for that, their aim will be to hurt them on the break.
Their more direct style of play could see them utilise gaps left on the flanks by the hosts.
- Chelsea 0-0 Wolves5. As a Chelsea corner comes to nothing, Ait-Nouri runs the length of the pitch with the ball at his feet.
He lays it off to Sarabia but the visitors end up passing it all the way back to their own defence.
Another break for Wolves comes to an end with a well-timed sliding challenge from Chalobah, which gets a huge cheer from the home fans.
- Chelsea 0-0 Wolves3. It has been one-way traffic so far.
Wolves need to do something about that as they will not survive long in a game of defence versus attack.
Neto heads a ball into the box but Jose Sa collects well.
- Chelsea 0-0 Wolves1. As you would expect, The Blues start on the front foot.
Neto whips a ball into the box, which is headed behind for a corner.
James clips it in and the ball is flicked onto the far post where Jackson is unmarked but his volley makes for an easy save for Jose Sa.

Wolves bad boy Matheus Cunha is back for his first start after grabbing an Ipswich security guard’s glasses in a post match spat.
- A game of two playmakersThere is no doubting that whoever comes out on top tonight at Stamford Bridge will be as a result of one of these two players.
Both teams know the importance of their opponents’ talisman who is key to unlocking teams.
It will be a case of trying to shut them down, whoever can find the space to play their game, could be a deciding factor tonight.
