  • ‘Stop talking and win’William Saliba has and encouraged Arsenal to “stop talking” and “win” a trophy.

The centre-back, who signed a five-year contract earlier this week, said: “I cannot leave this club without giving them something back.

“I’ve won nothing so my first choice was to stay here and win everything first.

“Every year we’re getting better. This year, we had a lot of experiences from the last three seasons. We know that we’re always close, always close.

“So we have to stop talking and prove on the pitch that we have to win.

“I’ve been there for three years. Every time at the end of the season you finish second, you’re a bit angry.

“You want to go on holiday and celebrate with your friends the trophies you won with your club.

“Of course, when you finish second and you go on holiday, it’s not so good.”

While Moises Caicedo was excellent there a couple of players who won’t want to check out Lloyd Canfield’s player ratings.

  • The Classy OneThere was huge fanfare around Jose Mourinho’s return to Chelsea and fans gave him a brilliant reception, cheering his name for the opening few minutes of the tie.

The Benfica boss was then spotted further ingratiating himself with the home support (as if he needed to) after Enzo Fernandez was pelted with projectiles.

Enzo, who spent a brief spell at Benfica, had objects thrown at him while trying to take a corner – prompting Mourinho to charge down the touchline to plead with away fans to stop.

  • Bo-d’ohBodo/Glimt were just moments away from one of the biggest wins in their short history… but threw it away late.

The home side were two goals to the good after 68 minutes but Micky van de Ven pulled one back before a late deflection allowed Tottenham to earn a point.

Here’s what SunSport’s Tom Barclay had to say on Spurs’ poor night:

  • Slot decision backfiresArne Slot named a much-changed XI for Liverpool’s match in Galatasaray.

But the decision did not work out as the Reds lost to a Victor Osimhen penalty.

Liverpool were awarded a late penalty but it was correctly overturned by the VAR.

Here’s SunSport’s Martin Lipton’s thoughts on the match:

  • No Special returnJose Mourinho was back at Stamford Bridge but the Portuguese came away on the losing side after a first-half own goal.

His Benfica side looked like they might steal an equaliser in the second half, but Chelsea held on for a vital victory.

Here’s how SunSport’s Jack Rosser saw the match:

  • More action to look forward toWe have more cracking fixtures this evening:

(All matches 8pm BST unless stated)

    Qarabag vs Copenhagen (5.45pm)

    Union Saint-Gilloise vs Newcastle (5.45pm)

    Arsenal vs Olympiakos

    Barcelona vs PSG

    Bayer Leverkusen vs PSV

    Borussia Dortmund vs Athletic Club

    Monaco vs Man City

    Napoli vs Sporting CP

    Villareal vs Juventus

  • Osimhen scoops award in winVictor Osimhen was given the ‘man of the match’ award after he scored the winner against Liverpool.

It was his penalty that gave Galatasaray their first Champions League win since 2018, when they beat Lokomotiv Moscow.

Beating one of the favourites to win the tournament this season, there will have been some parties on the streets of Istanbul until the early hours of the morning.

  • Pedro lets down teammatesComing off the bench, Joao Pedro picked up needless yellow card seconds after taking to the pitch.

The striker then picked up another booking in added-time and the referee had no choice but to show him a red card.

He will now miss their next game, not ideal given their injuries in that position currently.

  • Enzo with plenty to proveWinning the Club World Cup seems to have put a target on Enzo Maresca and his players.

The fans are expecting big things this season and to see their team challenging for major honours.

His squad have not had the usual summer break to the competition and this campaign is going to be gruelling on his players in the build-up to a World Cup.

  • Reds finds themselves in rutLiverpool made it two defeats on the spin as they visited Istanbul, a destination that holds a special place in the hearts of fans.

They created chances just before giving away the penalty but do not seem to be taking their chances at pivotal moments.

They travel to Chelsea weekend, having created a situation where they cannot now afford anything but victory.

  • Slot gives update on playersArne Slot faced some questions in the media zone after their surprise defeat against Galatasaray:

“It’s never positive if your goalkeeper goes off like that.

“We can be sure Alisson will not be playing at Chelsea. Then we will see how long he is out for.

“Hugo did go off but hopefully it’s not too bad.”

Virgil van Dijk then faced the questions and added:

“I hate losing but we can’t panic.

“This wasn’t the same terrible performance we had at Palace but we are taking risks in possession and made the wrong decisions.

“Losing twice now in a row doesn’t feel good. We have to improve for Chelsea.”

  • Boss gives Frank assessment of drawSpeaking in the post-match media zone, Spurs’ manager gave his views on their result against Bodo/Glimt.

“I think definitely big character to fight back. I think that’s hugely important in any team that they have that and keep running, keep fighting, keep doing the right thing.

“We showed great character to come back into the game, which I’m very, very pleased with. But big praise to Bodo. I think until the 2-0 they were the best team today.

“Of course I hope we could have done a little bit more first half. Got a little bit more into the high pressure in situations. And I would say especially on the ball I felt we could and should have kept the ball better in situations.”

  • Reds without superb stopperIt seems Liverpool will be without the services of Alisson Becker this weekend at Stamford Bridge.

The keeper picked up an injury and was forced off in Istanbul.

It means that that his understudy Giorgi Marmadashvili will be in the spotlight in the crunch match in the capital this weekend.

  • Champions League fixturesHere are the matches we have to look forward to this week still:

(All matches 8pm BST unless stated)

    Qarabag vs Copenhagen (5.45pm)

    Union Saint-Gilloise vs Newcastle (5.45pm)

    Arsenal vs Olympiakos

    Barcelona vs PSG

    Bayer Leverkusen vs PSV

    Borussia Dortmund vs Athletic Club

    Monaco vs Man City

    Napoli vs Sporting CP

    Villareal vs Juventus

  • Tough test for British sidesWith more games to go in the second round of Champions League fixtures, it is not going according to plan for the English sides.

Currently, it is only Tottenham who sit in the top eight places which secures your passage to the ’round of 16′.

That could all change after tomorrow’s fixtures of course, but it is looking as competitive as ever in Europe’s elite competition.

  • Boss gives view on victorySpeaking with TNT Sports, The Blues’ manager gave his thoughts:

The effort was really good. I felt we were better in the first-half for sure. We need to be very good defensively, the way we were for the most part last season. So the clean sheet, it is a nice feeling. The good thing is, we are improving, we can now win with ten players. I do not think the second incident was a yellow card. I think Bayern Munich away, we lost, but I think the team was good. For us, it is a journey that start this season and hopefully we can get better and better.

  • Spurs manage to grab late-goalTottenham managed to grab a point thanks to a late equaliser.

The 89th minute own goal completed the comeback for Spurs after falling 2-0 down thanks to a brace from Jens Petter Hauge.

Thomas Frank exchanged some thoughts with the Norwegian at the end of the game, having nearly made it a long trip back to London for the Danish manager.

  • Slot needs side to find formBack-to-back defeats is not something Arne Slot has become used to since taking over as Liverpool manager.

What makes it worse, these are two matches that The Reds would have expected to win.

Defeats against Crystal Palace and Galatasaray now sends them to West London to face Chelsea in a crucial match before yet another international break.

  • Winger stands out for The BluesIt was far from a great performance from Chelsea tonight.

However, if there were a player who put in a note-worthy shift it was Pedro Neto.

His cross picked out Alejandro Garnacho that led to Benfica’s own-goal that was the difference in West London.

  • View from SunSport’s Martin LiptonLiverpool look red-faced above those jade green shirts.

But they only have themselves to  blame.

This was another worrying evening, on the back of that first defeat of the season at Palace on Saturday.

Too many mistakes at both ends, with the full-backs and Ibrahima Konate in particular all at sea.

Victor Osimhen’s first half penalty, after a clear foul by Dominik Szoboszlai, gave Galatasaray their first home win in the Champions league since they beat Lokomotiv Moscow in 2018.

That sums it all up, Arne Slot’s decision to keep Mo Salah and Alexander Isak on the bench for an hour another error.

Even the late show was cancelled when VAR correctly overturned a late spot kick for a foul on Konate that never was.

And with Alisson forced off after a collision with Osimhen – after Konate’s shocker in midfield – the repercussions could be felt at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

  • Champions League resultsHere are how things panned out across Europe this evening:

    Atalanta 2-1 Club Brugge

    Kairat 0-5 Real Madrid

    Atletico Madrid 5-1 Eintract Frankfurt

    Bodo/Glimt 2-2 Tottenham

    Chelsea 1-0 Benfica

    Galatasaray 1-0 Liverpool

    Inter Milan 3-0 Slavia Prague

    Marseille 4-0 Ajax

    Pafos 1-5 Bayern Munich

  • FT: Galatasaray 1-0 LiverpoolThe Turkish side get their first home win in the Champions League since 2018 to make it a night to remember in Istanbul.

Victor Osimhen’s penalty was enough to secure the three points.

It was quite an even game in terms of chances but the injury to Alisson may be more of a concern for The Reds.

  • FT: Bodo/Glimt 2-2 TottenhamThis may seem like a point gained for Thomas Frank’s side.

Spurs were 2-0 down and managed to find a way to come back.

Bodo/Glimt also missed a penalty in this match.
