Champion F1: “This is not enough. The car needs to change even more ”

The four -time F1 champion Sebastian Vettel He positively appreciated the formula-1 steps in the direction of electrification and the transition to climate neutral fuel, but remained critical to the new rules that will come into force in 2026.

He noted that energy recovery only on the back axis looks illogical:

“It is good that the energy is restored, but to do it only on the rear axle and ignore the front – does not make sense,” Vettel said.

He also believes that the championship had a chance to act bolder, and instead went the way to simplify for the sake of reducing costs.

“If you give freedom to F1 developments, everything can quickly go in the wrong direction. The emphasis should be on fuel that can be used in cars, navigation and aviation, ”he emphasized.

Separately, the German drew attention to the weight of the cars, which by the new rules will decrease by only 30 kg – to a minimum of 768 kg.

“It’s just a drop in the sea. The machines are too heavy. They should be 200 kg lighter – this would save fuel and improve the race, ”Vettel summed up.
