Former player of the clubs “Lyon” and “Marseille” Bafetimbi Gomis publicly announced the end of his professional football career. The player turned 39 in the summer.

The French striker announced his decision on the DAZN TV channel a few minutes before the start of the Ligue 1 match between Saint-Etienne and Lyon.

Starting in September, Gomis was among the free agents. Bafetimbi’s last team was the Japanese club Kawasaki.

In total, the forward visited eight teams during his career: “Saint-Etienne”, “Troy”, “Lyon”, “Marseille” (France), “Swansea” (England), “Galatasaray” (Turkey), “Al Hilal” ” (Saudi Arabia) and “Kawasaki” (Japan).

According to statistics, the attacker played only 783 games, in which he scored 347 times. The player did not forget about assists either – 75 assists.

Gomis also played 12 matches as part of the French national team. The player has scored three goals.

In addition to his football achievements, Bafetimbi was remembered by fans for his unusual celebration after scoring a goal. The player always imitated a panther, which became his trademark.
