Benfica reacted to the Champions League draw without forgetting Trubin

On Friday, January 30, in Nyon, Switzerland, the draw for the play-off round matches took place Champions League 2025/26as a result of which the Portuguese “Benfica” also learned about their future opponent.

The opponent of the Lisbon club will be Real Madrid, with whom the Eagles have already played – they won the match of the eighth round of the main stage with a score of 4:2.

The 1/16 final matches will be held on February 17/18 and 24/25. The eight clubs that will be the winners of the confrontations of this round will win a ticket to the 1/8 finals.

The press service of “Benfica” wittily reacted to the draw by publishing a photo in the style of the cult film “The Matrix”. Jose Mourinho’s team needs to choose one of two opponents – “Inter” (blue pill) or “Real” (white).

As a result, the “eagles” will have to play with the representative of Spain – after the draw, a photo of Anatoly Trubin, who is holding a white pill in his hands, was published. The caption reads: “And we will meet again.”

Anatoly Trubin became the main hero of the previous match of Benfica, scoring a goal in the last seconds, which gave his team a ticket to the next round.
