While Mercedes and Mclarene had every chance of high positions, Red Bull and Ferrari were unable to manifest themselves in full due to technical problems and the choice of compromises in settings. As a result, several pilots could claim pool, but minor mistakes and technical difficulties deprived them of this achievement. So, who went out to the first positions, and who disappointed on this important weekend?

Mercedes Mercedes’s cars again demonstrate a strong shape on direct ones – largely due to the installation of new power plants. The fresh motor allowed to work at full power without need to reduce the load for reliability, as it probably had to do a bull.

This also gave the effect in difficult conditions. The heat, which was a weak place of silver arrows last year, did not create any problems this time. And the new motor and long straight lines, which make up almost a third of the circle, became their trump card.

Against this background, Kimi Antonelli was particularly striking. He won the closest pursuer in the face of Oscar Pastri, mainly in protracted and slow turns, where mechanical clutch and accuracy of output output is crucial. The Italian had a better -tuned machine for such areas, which provided him with an advantage in technical sections.

In addition, he also impressed with the work with rubber. Although Mercedes did not use a soft kit in the training, Antonelli was able to adapt to him in the qualification of Antonelli. As a result, it gave him a significant advantage – especially given that the opponents already had experience in working with this tire during the weekend.

Red Bull faced problems in the direct sectors of Miami, where they lost about 0.3-0.4 tenths compared to competitors, which poses their chances of high results in the race. The reason for this is the use of the old motor, which significantly reduces their capacity in fast areas.

This problem is even more manifested in the percentage of the passage of the route on full gas, where Red Bull demonstrates very high values, indicating that the machine uses less power than the rest. This can be caused by both the low efficiency of the old engine and specific settings, oriented to maintain reliability in high temperatures, which can also be a factor in the delay of acceleration.

In addition, there is a version that the team deliberately limited power due to anxiety about overloading the power plant in hot conditions.

These factors significantly limit the potential of Red Bull at high speeds, while in slow sectors, they can use their aerodynamic and mechanical benefits. So, in the first sector Max was two-tenths faster than competitors with the TOP-3, but then during the circle-even on old tires (Max drove two fast circles without changing the kit)-it was impossible to maintain the advantage.

Ferrari continues to fight insufficient rotation. Part of the machine is specially tuned with a larger aerobalane on the back to be more stable in the race and better work with tires. However, in the qualification mode, this only exacerbates problems with insufficient rotation, and also complicates the preparation of front tires. Compromise – forced.

Yesterday, engineers changed the suspension rigidity settings, including transverse stabilizers, but this did not give the desired effect. In addition, the Lecler was very late for his last attempt, and he had to drive a heating circle at an accelerated pace to have time to the checkered flag. This adversely affected the preparation of tires by temperature and pressure.

Charles also loses a lot of insufficient rotation on the accelerations also because he cannot press gas.
