Mikel Arteta reacts on the touchline during a soccer match.

Arteta will be desperate to get back on track against Leeds this weekendCredit: AP The Gunners drew 0-0 with Liverpool at the Emirates on January 8th and while that was generally viewed as an acceptable result, the following goalless draw away to Nottingham Forest was undeniably an opportunity missed.

Most recently, Mikel Arteta’s side lost 3-2 to Manchester United in North London, a rare defeat on home soil.

Arsenal are four points ahead of Manchester City and Aston Villa and will be hopeful of a positive result against 16th-placed Leeds this coming Saturday, though Daniel Farke’s side are not to be taken lightly at Elland Road.

Dream Team managers have felt the impact of Arsenal’s wobble in recent weeks.

14%-owned Gabriel (£5.1m) has registered just 12 points from his last five outings, a far cry from the unimpeachable form he exhibited throughout the first three months of the campaign.

A clean sheet shortage has also limited David Raya (£4.4m), Jurrien Timber (£4.3m) and William Saliba’s (£4.4m) progress.

Gaffers who invested in an Arsenal-heavy defence have not seen suitable returns on their investment lately.

The England international’s minutes have nosedived since the start of December — he simply isn’t a viable option at this moment in time.

Bukayo Saka (£6.3m) and Declan Rice (£5.7m) rank joint-second and ninth among midfielders overall and remain strong selections but even their owners will want to see an improvement on the last two Gameweeks.

The former has four league goals to his name at this stage which is below par from what gaffers have come to expect from a player of his calibre.

Although it’s a measure of Saka’s pedigree that he is just one point behind top midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai (£4.9m) without bulk league goals behind him.

Leandro Trossard (£4.3m), Mikel Merino (£3.4m), Martin Zubimendi (£3.8m), Gabriel Martinelli (£4m), Noni Madueke (£3.8m) and Martin Odegaard (£3.5m) have all cooled for various reasons.

Earlier this season, Dream Team managers were spoiled for choice when it came to Arsenal midfielders but that’s certainly not the case now.

Premier League - Arsenal v Crystal Palace

Eze’s hat-trick against Spurs feels a long time agoCredit: Reuters As for the strikers, Gabriel Jesus (£4.5m) impressed in Gameweek 20 with a 19-point haul courtesy of a brace away to Inter but the Brazilian underwhelmed against the Red Devils and mustered just one point before he was replaced.

Viktor Gyokeres (£5m) also scored in Milan but the former Sporting CP marksman still doesn’t look all that comfortable in the Premier League.

He’s scored five league goals in 21 appearances this season with two coming from the penalty spot.

Gyokeres’ current ownership of 10% feels high.

All this is not to say that gaffers should panic, just to acknowledge that some individuals are at risk of losing their set-and-forget status.

It’s important to note that while Arsenal’s title charge has slowed, they have made serene progress in the Champions League and domestic cups.

Victory over Kairat this evening will extend their 100% record in Europe this season with a place in the last 16 already secured.

In Gameweek 22, after their visit to Leeds, they will host Chelsea for the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final having won the first leg 3-2.

And a comfortable win over Portsmouth in the FA Cup third round means they continue to chase trophies on four fronts.

All things considered, there should be plenty more points to come from Arteta’s favourites but a slip-up of any sort at Elland Road might provoke a strong reaction.
