“Honestly, I am satisfied with our game today. The only thing I didn’t like was the decision in the last third of the field. At the same time, I would really like to note the behavior of my players and the general attitude towards this confrontation. Speaking in general terms, I think it is an immodest statement that in many moments we deserved a place in this top 8 more compared to other teams, because our rhythm of life is very unusual for an average European team.
We have to travel a lot, move around a lot both in Ukraine and within the framework of European competitions. Very often our weekly cycle was reduced to the fact that we could conduct an analysis of the opponent and carry out pre-match training. Of course, this is not the full-fledged cycle that one would expect. However, we do not complain and move on. Sometimes we really felt like a team in the NBA basketball championship.
We have a lot of respect for Rijeka. I have to note the good construction of the game, the drawing that they showed today. It was really fun going up against them, trying to find the keys to breaking their defenses. We had chances to distinguish ourselves with scored goals. Maybe a little unlucky. I emphasize once again that I am very satisfied with the way the football players showed themselves on the field, with their dedication and energy.”
First of all, I’m on us, we grew up and learned a lot. I am very satisfied with how our lessons went. Some were painful, like the relegation from Panathinaikos. But, if you consider the circumstances of that unpleasant confrontation according to the score, but completely pleasant according to the pattern of the game… Moreover, we played in the minority for a significant part of the time. We also learned a valuable lesson in the cup confrontation with Dynamo, where, unfortunately, we left the tournament, but gained a lot of important knowledge for the future.
The games I’m really unhappy with are the matches with LNZ and Metalist 1925. It is also important to note that we had some difficult nights before this. Then Lviv was heavily bombed, and most of our players could not just spend the night peacefully. Again, this is no excuse for us. I am glad that we were able to learn many valuable lessons from most of the matches of the half-year. Also, and I really like it.
There is also more and more automatism in our actions and our team building. We reach the final third of the field very easily, but we need to be even more aware of the importance of the ball every time we find ourselves in the final third of the opponent’s field. My footballers are still very young and I see how they realize it better and better with every match. It is most important to emphasize that we are not just a team of football players – we are a strong family. We must move step by step. It’s been a great 6 months.”
