However a deal involving Inter could hit a stumbling block over his wages.
Onana reportedly earns £120,000-a-week and United may have to pay a portion of his salary to ensure a deal is completed.
It is unclear if a loan or permanent move in on the table, with Onana contracted to the Red Devils until 2028.
