The National Commission for Energy Regulation has approved an increase in the tariff for gas transportation / Illustration by REUTERSIn the event of an increase in the tariff of the “Operator of the Gas Transportation System of Ukraine” for gas transportation, the industry will be forced to increase the cost of its products. This was stated by the executive director of the Association of Gas Production Companies of Ukraine, Artem Petrenko.“The increase in tariffs will primarily affect the cost of gas in the commercial segment, i.e. for industry. Industry will be forced to increase the cost of its products, which it produces, including those purchased by household consumers, i.e. the population of Ukraine,” he said, commenting on the possible an increase in the tariff for gas transportation by almost 5 times.
Petrenko emphasized that this will, accordingly, increase inflation. At the same time, taking into account the current moratorium on tariff increases for the population, people will not feel these tariffs in gas payments.
Earlier, the Federation of Employers of Ukraine stated that the increase in the tariff for gas transportation, the project of which was approved by the National Commission for Energy Regulation (NKREKP), will have catastrophic consequences for the economy and cause a wave of dismissals of producers.
