Alonso told why Aston Martin is slow and when a chance appeared on points

At the end of Bahrain Grand Prix, Aston Pilot Martin Fernando Alonso finished in a disappointing 15th place. Thus, the two-time formula-1 champion remained without points in the first four races of the season. This is the worst start of the Spaniard’s campaign since 2017.

Alonso notes that problems with the car have been “a little everywhere”, but there is one specific area that the team should focus on the immediate updates.

The low speeds were our weakest side in Australia, Japan and China, – said Alonso.

Bahrain is a route with a lot of slow turns, and it was our least competitive weekend. So that is where we need to focus.

Assessing the situation at low speeds, Alonso added:

It is difficult both at the entrance to the turn and in the middle. The car seems to “dies” at low speed. This is a well -known problem that we were and last year – and we have not yet got rid of it.

We need improvements. It was a heavy weekend. We expected to be slow because of the characteristics of the route in Bahrain, but we still need to improve the car. The problem is not only in low speed – it’s a little everywhere. We need to take a step forward.

I hope Jedda will be a little more favorable to us, although even getting points this year seems a difficult task.

Instead, his teammate Lens Slum finished the sixth race in the chaotic opening of the season in Australia and was ninth in China. Alonso went down in both cases: first due to an accident in Albert Park in Melbourne, and then-because of problems with brakes that forced him to stay on the highway in Shanghai ahead of time.

Alonso hopes that Saudi Arabia will be more favorable. Last year, he qualified the fourth on the street highway Jedda and finished the fifth, although then the car Ant Martin was much more competitive.
