“We discussed the consequences of this morning’s massive Russian attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which once again demonstrated the urgent need to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capabilities. “I expressed gratitude to President Stubb and the Finnish people for their principled and unwavering support for the independence of Ukraine and our people,” Zelenskyi said.
The President of Ukraine also expressed gratitude for “Finland’s willingness to strengthen the capabilities of Ukrainian air defense.”
“It is important for us that Finland strongly supports Ukraine’s sovereign right to choose its own future without external interference, in particular our choice to join the EU and NATO. In addition, we agreed with the need to provide Ukraine with real and effective security guarantees in order to achieve stability and long-term peace,” he noted.
Earlier it became known that Finland will provide Ukraine with the 26th package of material aid, the Ministry of Defense of the country reported on December 5. The relevant decision was taken by the president of the country at the request of the government.
In late November, the leaders of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Sweden and Finland promised to increase support for Ukraine, including providing more ammunition.
