Zelensky honored the memory of Krut’s heroes on Askold’s Tomb in Kiev

On the Day of Heroes of Kruty, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky honored the memory of those who restrained the offensive of the Bolsheviks on Kiev on January 29, 1918. The ceremony took place near the memorial Cross to the heroes of Kruty on Askold’s Tomb in Kiev, the President’s website reports.

“After completing the ceremony, the head of state spoke with the mother of the deceased Hero of Ukraine, a fighter pilot Andrei Polshchikov (call sign Jus) Lilia Averianova near St. Nicholas Church on Askold’s Tomb,” the statement said.

Zelensky honored the memory of Andrei Pilshchikov, as well as the fallen near Ilovaysk in August 2014, Mark Paslavsky, a participant of the Revolution of Dignity, who died during a fire in the Trade Unions House in February 2014 Alexander Klytinsky, Hero of Ukraine, Commander Dmitry Kotsubayl (call sign Da Vinci), who died in March 2023 under Bakhmut, and a public activist and warrior of the 59th separate assault brigade named after Jacob Gandziuk Pavel Petrychenko, who died last year in April during a combat mission in Donetsk.

107 years ago, on January 29, 1918, a battle was held near Kruty – near a small railway station in the current Chernihiv region. At that time, about 400 cadets and students restrained the attack on Kyiv by several thousand Bolshevik Army.
