President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a conversation with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the eve of Canada’s chairmanship of the Group of Seven ambassadors’ association for supporting reforms in Ukraine, Zelenskyy wrote in a telegram on December 29.

“We discussed key priorities, including strengthening sanctions against Russia, especially regarding its propaganda networks and shadow fleet. Thanked Prime Minister Trudeau and the Canadian people for their unwavering support, including critical defense assistance such as NASAMS,” the post said.

Zelensky noted that he also offered to increase funding for the production of Ukrainian weapons and to consider the possibility of localizing the production of certain types of weapons.

Earlier it became known that the chairmanship of the group of ambassadors of the “Group of Seven” in support of reforms in Ukraine is changing – it is moving from Italy to Canada.

The chairmanship of the group lasts for a year – at the end of 2023, Italy took over the chairmanship of the diplomatic representation of Japan.

The G7 countries include Germany, Great Britain, the USA, Canada, France, Italy and Japan.
