“During today’s conversation with the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, we discussed in detail the possibilities of our allies to train our brigades following the example of France and the USA, the Czech initiative to supply artillery shells, the defense needs of our country, the possibility of opening a representative office of the newly created Ministry of National Unity in the Czech Republic,” the leader noted. of Ukraine.

On December 3, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to rename the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories into the Ministry of National Unity.

On the same day, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Oleksiy Chernyshov, Minister of National Unity of Ukraine, to the position of Deputy Prime Minister.

In August, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at a press conference that Ukraine plans to create a new ministry that should ensure the unity of Ukrainian citizens abroad.

Among the functions of the new ministry, the president named providing work in Ukraine, assistance in providing consular services to Ukrainians abroad, and keeping in touch with people who have left. In addition, the agency must confront Russian agents working with Ukrainians abroad.

A survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology found that only half of Ukrainian refugees currently living in Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic are ready to return home if conditions such as security, normal operation of critical infrastructure, availability of housing and the end of a full-scale invasion are met.
