President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said he was ready to participate in peace talks at one table with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He stated this in an interview with British journalist Pierce Morgan, which was released on February 4.

“If this is the only option for which we can bring peace to the citizens of Ukraine and not lose people, then we will definitely go for this option,” Zelensky said.

He also noted that he would be ready to negotiate with Putin, despite his attitude towards the Russian president.

“What is the difference, how I treat it. I will not be kind to him. I consider him an enemy, and to be honest, I think he also considers me an enemy, ”the President of Ukraine said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier that he did not consider Vladimir Zelensky to the legitimate President of Ukraine, so in his opinion, Zelensky cannot sign a peace agreement. Zelensky, commenting on his words, replied that Putin was “afraid of negotiations.”

The Russian authorities and propagandists talked about the “illegitimacy” of Zelensky after the five -year term of his presidential powers ended in May 2024. During the martial law in Ukraine, elections, including presidential, cannot be held in the country by law. Zelensky himself said in an interview with Pierce Morgan that the laws need to be changed in Ukraine to hold elections during the war.
