President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said this at a press conference. According to him, it is about presenting partners in the sky, at sea and on earth, not the UN peacekeeping troops and the organization for security and cooperation in Europe.
The proposals for their involvement are on the negotiation table, but Kiev does not see that the organization for security and cooperation in Europe can be effective in this matter, the President said:
“The presence of the OSCE is not safety guarantees. They have their own functionality. They do not have a corresponding mandate, some military contingent. And Russian is not afraid of them.”
Zelensky reminded that Ukraine had experienced work with the OSCE since 2014, but then they did not have a mandate and they could not even help with prisoners in temporarily occupied territories.
“We are talking about security guarantees. And not just a frozen conflict, where some forms appear on the contact line or front line, which will provide some monitoring. It is about professional people who guarantee the safety of Ukraine,” he said.
The President stressed that providing security guarantees is not only about the location of troops in strategic places. It is also about training and training of troops, as well as about the production and obtaining of licenses from partners. According to him, Ukraine will share its technologies on drones and missiles with partners who guarantee it security for its contingent.
Peacekeepers in UkraineIt is known that discussions have been intensified recently about the possibility of deploying Western troops in Ukraine, which would guarantee compliance with peaceful agreements on the termination of the war.
France and the United Kingdom headed the Coalition of those who gathers the countries that are ready to participate in it. According to the media, Paris and London are ready to send a common military delegation to Ukraine.
The Kremlin sharply condemned this initiative and threatened with “escalation”, stating that the involvement of foreign troops could lead to a direct contact with NATO.
