On January 17, a meeting was held in Kyiv at the level of the foreign ministers of Ukraine and the countries of Southeast Europe, during which the representatives of the governments adopted a joint communique. The document condemns any support by the international community of Russia in the war and supports Ukraine on the way to long-term peace and accession to the European Union.

The communiqué contains more than 10 points, including:

  • condemnation of violations of international humanitarian law;
  • joint efforts to document and investigate the illegal detention of Ukrainian civilians;
  • support for the Crimean Platform, which is aimed at returning the temporarily occupied territories, including the Crimean peninsula, under the control of Ukraine;
  • condemnation of any attempts by Russia to forcibly and illegally annex parts of the territory of Ukraine;
  • support for the “peace formula”, which is a realistic and viable mechanism aimed at restoring comprehensive, just and lasting peace, security and stability for Ukraine and all of Europe.
  • condemnation of the participation of military personnel of third countries in hostilities against Ukraine, which is an escalation of Russia’s aggressive war at the international level.

“Kyiv is a city that has become a symbol of courage, strength and freedom. We have gathered to determine consistent support for the Ukrainian people in this brutal war,” said Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordon Hrylich Radman.

The communiqué was adopted by Ukraine, Moldova, Slovenia, Albania, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Romania, Turkey, and Greece.

The next meeting at the level of ministers of foreign affairs of Ukraine and the countries of Southeast Europe may take place in Croatia.
