He added that the new administration of the US president will ask to lower the conscription age from 25 to 18 years.
“We need the problem of lack of human resources to be solved. It’s not just about ammunition or writing extra checks, it’s about seeing the front line so we can make some kind of deal,” the Trump adviser said.
Earlier, the representative of the US State Department, Matthew Miller, said that if the mobilization age in Ukraine is lowered to 18, then all recruits will be provided with full equipment.
Volodymyr Zelenskyi, commenting on Miller’s words, emphasized on December 10 that Ukraine should not compensate for the lack of equipment and training with young soldiers, so it is necessary to focus on providing the existing brigades. The head of state noted that “the priority should be the supply of missiles and the reduction of Russia’s military potential, not the reduction of the conscription age in Ukraine.”
On October 15, the adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Serhiy Leshchenko, said that American politicians from both parties are pressuring President Zelensky on the question of why there is no mobilization of those aged 18 to 25 in Ukraine.
At the same time, according to him, the president “continues to convince politicians from both parties to give weapons without changing the conscription age.” At the time, Zelenskyy stated that mobilization from the age of 18 is not yet planned in Ukraine.
The legislation of Ukraine provides for the mobilization of conscripts aged 25 to 60.
