According to Umerov, the participants of the meeting discussed the security situation and the threats posed by the escalation of Russia’s aggression.

“We aspire to make cooperation with each of our partners even more effective in 2025. To this end, they have already started an analysis of the support that Ukraine received in previous years, and outlined new areas of work,” he said.
The Minister named among such directions:
- using revenues from frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine
- expansion of the EUMAM training mission for the training of the Ukrainian military
- investments in the defense sector of Ukraine to strengthen Ukrainian production
According to Umerov, special attention was paid to the preparation of the strategic reserve brigades. He added that Ukraine is already conducting negotiations with a number of European countries regarding the equipment and training of units and expects the coordinating role of the European Union in accelerating these agreements.
“Our goal is to provide the military with everything necessary to bring about a just peace,” added Umyerov.
Earlier on December 13, Kubilyus reported on a “fruitful” conversation with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

“Thanks to further industrial cooperation, we can develop advanced solutions and strengthen international defense supply chains,” added the European Commissioner.
In early December, Umerov welcomed the appointment of the EU Commissioner for Defense and Space, calling it a sign of Europe’s readiness to adapt to modern security challenges.
Former Prime Minister of Lithuania Andrius Kubilius, who assumed the post of the first-ever defense commissioner of the European Union, said in September that over the next few years it is necessary to invest more than 500 billion euros in the development of Europe’s defense industry.
