Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on the relatives of Russian officials residing in Europe to return to Russia. This statement comes amid ongoing discussions about the effectiveness of sanctions against Russia.
Zelensky expressed gratitude towards U.S. President Donald Trump for implementing decisive sanctions targeting major Russian energy companies such as Lukoil and Rosneft. He emphasized that comprehensive sanctions could extend to the entire Russian energy sector, including nuclear energy, which would send a significant message to European nations.
While acknowledging the efforts made by European countries, Zelensky pointed out that they have yet to impose sanctions on Russian nuclear energy, as well as on officials and their families living abroad. He noted that these individuals often fund their children’s education in European universities and own properties in the United States, all financed by profits from Russian state enterprises.
“Return to Russia. Go home. You show no respect for anyone in the U.S. You disregard the rules, democracy, Ukraine, and Europe. Go home,” Zelensky stated, underscoring his frustration with the situation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged the families of Russian officials living in Europe to return to Russia, criticizing their perceived lack of respect for democratic values. His comments come as he advocates for broader sanctions against the Russian energy sector, highlighting the need for stronger international action.
