Ukrainian President Seeks Easter Ceasefire Discussions with U.S. Officials

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, is set to discuss the proposal for a ceasefire with Russia during the Easter holiday with American officials. This initiative aims to establish a temporary halt in hostilities amid ongoing conflict.

On March 30, Zelensky suggested to Moscow the possibility of a ceasefire coinciding with the Easter celebrations, expressing hope that the United States would endorse this proposal. He stated, “We are waiting for a response from Russia. Tomorrow, I will speak with the American team, including on this issue. We hope for results. Results are needed by all.”

In his remarks, Zelensky emphasized that a brief ceasefire lasting two to three days would not allow Russia to significantly reinforce its positions, suggesting that such a pause would not adversely affect the situation on the front lines.

Following Zelensky’s announcement, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov remarked that Ukraine had not clearly articulated a ceasefire initiative, indicating potential skepticism from the Russian side regarding the proposal.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is initiating discussions with U.S. officials about a proposed ceasefire with Russia during Easter. Despite the proposal, Kremlin representatives have indicated uncertainty regarding Ukraine's intentions.
